Molex Corporation announces the introduction of SolderRight TM solder terminals, which are a perfect complement to the straight wire-to-board design and offer a very low profile right angle soldering option for PCB exits under severe space constraints. This rugged welded terminal ensures a safe and reliable connection with the smallest "Z" design. Michael Bean, Molex 's global product manager, explains: "The most common problem in products that require straight-wired terminations is that the wire is overstressed when the wire is bent at a 90-degree angle after soldering, resulting in long-term reliability. This can cause problems. This problem can be solved by using a direct in-plate crimp terminal instead of a soldering process." In addition to its extremely low profile, SolderRight's one-piece crimped solder terminals feature unique design features such as a variety of terminal and wire sizes, solder pins between the insulation and wire clips, and double solder pins. End-to-wire sizes range from 14 to 28 AWG, allowing simultaneous signal and current transfer while maintaining PCB space optimization. The solder pins arranged between the insulation layer and the wire clamp have excellent wire strain relief and prevent breakage of the terminals and welds. Molex 's double solder pins provide extreme stability in soldering and have redundant current paths. Bean added: "The industry requires extremely low profile packaging and wire termination to simplify the bonding process and increase reliability while saving cost and space. Molex SolderRight solder terminals can be used to deliver specific value to customers in any way." Ruby or Ruby-Doped sapphire owes its red color to traces of chromium oxide (chromium content for ruby balls is typically >0.5%). While their physical and chemical properties are basically the same, their optical properties are somewhat different. Sapphire has superior optical transmission qualities. Ruby Balls are easier to see and therefore easier to handle for physical applications.
