The steps to simulate DP slave failure with Siemens plc simulation software are as follows:
1) Generate DP master, DP network and DP slave in the hardware configuration.
2) After saving and compiling the hardware configuration, download the system data to the simulation PLC. Switch the emulated CPU to RUN-P mode.
3) Execute the PLCSIM menu command "Execute" → "Trigger error OB" → "Rack failure (OB86)" and open the "Rack failure OB (86)" dialog. On the "DP fault" tab, the configured slave is green.
4) Click on the small box corresponding to a slave and the “X†appears in the box. Select "Station failure" with the radio button and click the "Apply" button. The "X" in the small box corresponding to the selected slave disappears and the small box turns red, indicating that the station is faulty. The red SF (system fault) LED on the CPU view object lights up and the DP (bus fault) LED flashes.
5) Execute the menu command "PLC" → "Diagnostics / Settings" → "Hardware Diagnostics" of the SIMATIC Manager, open the "Hardware Diagnostics - Quick View" dialog box (see the figure below), you can see the No. 1 network No. 3 slave station failure.
6) Double-click the CPU to open the module information dialog box of the CPU. The event "Distributed I/O: Station Fault" in the "Events" list of the "Diagnostics Buffer" tab indicates that the slave No. 3 has failed.
Select the event, in the "Details on Events" window, you can see the request to call OB86, external error, incoming event (event generation).
7) Double-click the DP slave in the above figure to open the module information dialog of the slave, you can see the information about the slave.
