Recently, there has been a long period of thunderstorms in the Tianjin area, which poses a great threat to the safe operation of Tianjin Power Grid. On July 11, Tianjin Electric Power Research Institute launched its own new-generation lightning positioning system, which provided technical support for pre-disaster prevention and post-disaster recovery work of its subsidiaries.
The new generation of lightning positioning system consists of three detection stations and one central station. The three detection stations are located in Jing County, Jinghai, Wuqing.
The lightning positioning system is a complete set of automatic, large-area, high-precision, real-time lightning monitoring systems that can remotely measure and display the time, location, lightning current peak and polarity, number of return strokes, and parameters for each hit back in real time. In combination with power grid parameters, monitoring and lightning statistics of lightning strikes in the vicinity of transmission lines were conducted.
When a line trips in a thunderstorm, a new generation of lightning positioning system can rapidly locate the fault point according to the display of the lightning positioning system, enabling the operation and maintenance department to concentrate resources for emergency repairs.
