In recent years, fires and even explosions caused by lithium batteries have occurred frequently. The safety of lithium batteries has caused great concern in the society. Prior to this, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology had held a ministerial office meeting to carry out special deployment of lithium battery safety work. It required to do a good job of lithium battery safety standards and safety access of production companies, strengthen management and access, and prevent security accidents.

Analysts believe that lithium battery industry access conditions are expected to put forward more stringent requirements in terms of production technology, equipment, and the environment, so as to improve the safety performance of lithium battery products. In addition, it is expected that the lithium battery industry will also set limits in terms of production scale, sales revenue, etc. To change the current status of overcapacity in the industry and guide the industry into a healthy development track.

According to statistics, China's lithium battery production ranks third in the world in 2011, accounting for 29%, and its production ratio in 2012 is expected to exceed 30%. Lithium battery industry includes materials, battery production and application of more than 1,000 companies, including about 200 power battery companies. Among lithium battery companies, there are 20 companies with sales revenues of over 400 million yuan, and production capacity accounts for 70% of the industry. A large number of small manufacturers destroyed the market price system and also dragged down the level of product quality.
