Of course, some manufacturers are smiling and earning a lot of money. Overall, this year's LED market is a normal year of adjustment. Trend 1: The dimming technology is greatly upgraded and is expected to become a lighting highlight
In LED lighting applications, the challenges of dimming technology are very large. Because LED lighting uses current driving mode, and existing dimmers are mostly voltage dimming, the compatibility challenge is quite large, but this is It is also a weapon to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of the program. In the conventional LED dimming scheme, common problems include a small dimming range, a sudden brightening in dimming, and flickering when the dimming is low, which seriously affects the user experience. However, some companies have introduced special solutions, and LED dimming is expected to be solved. Taking PI's newly released LYTSwitchIC as an example, the driver can easily reach the NEMA SSL6 standard even at low conduction angles and the startup speed is very fast, usually less than 500 milliseconds, even when the 10% light output is turned on. It is also very fast. In the actual solution, the bulb designed with the LYTSwitch IC can be turned on at almost the same dimming angle as when it was turned off, which virtually eliminates sudden brightening. In addition, the deadband in the TRIAC dimming is eliminated because the LYTSwitch controller ensures that the dimmer is dimmed as soon as it starts working. Another challenge of dimming technology is compatibility. Now there is no solution that can achieve 100% compatible dimmers, so it can be very good to achieve 80% (or 90%) or more. Trend 2: Single-stage circuit architecture gradually dominates
In the previous scheme, in order to obtain better dimming characteristics, many schemes adopt a two-stage architecture, that is, a "PFC (Power Factor Correction) + Isolated DC/DC Converter" architecture, which can effectively reduce the power supply pattern. wave. In the past, because some designers thought that the ripple of a single-stage PFC circuit was too large, and worried about the LED lifetime, luminous efficiency and color temperature, the two-stage circuit was used more, and now, with the introduction of a single-stage scheme with high switching frequency. The advantage of a single-stage circuit is very obvious, because in terms of efficiency, the two-stage circuit is difficult to fight against a single level. At present, single-stage solutions can achieve more than 92% efficiency, and dual-stage circuits usually have an efficiency of only about 85%.
Another advantage of a single-stage circuit is that the circuit is simple. Figure 2 shows the PI solution, which can achieve 92% efficiency. Therefore, the solution of adopting single-stage circuit in the future will occupy the mainstream.
