Summary:

Because energy-efficient power supplies generate less heat, they can be used in harsh environments, such as white-light appliances that typically have higher ambient temperatures. Typical temperatures for such applications can range from 70 oC to 85 oC.

The LinkSwitch-XT non-isolated flyback power supply as shown can operate from an input voltage range of 185VAC to 265VAC and provides two DC outputs: -5 V, 300mA and 7V, 175mA. The current at the 7 V output can be loaded to 350 mA over a period of time without significantly affecting the temperature rise of U1.
